DEar Tim,
While I know of no twins in my Whitney line, thought you might be interested
in my wife's story of twins. Her mother's family were Kaufman's and we just
returned last week from a visit to London and Lafayette, Ohio, where that
family came from and is buried.
My wife is an identical twin and her sister lives in Springfield, Mo. Their
mother was a twin, fraternal, but the boy died at birth; her grandmother was
a twin, fraternal, and the boy died at birth. In the cemetery in Lafayette,
Ohio, we found graves of two other sets of twins. One set both died at birth
and the other set one lived and one died.
Twins did not crop up again in my wife's or her sisters families, but my
wife's maternal aunt had three boys, and two out of the three boys have
living twin grandchildren, one set identical and the other fraternal. From
this it is easy to see that they apparently do run in families. Wouldn't be
surprised that if they might crop up again in our Grandchildren's families,
if and when they have children.
I am stuck on finding my Whitney family line beyond my Great Grandfather,
Daniel James Whitney, born in New York in 1834. If you have anything on him
or his ancestors, would be happy to hear about it from you. Thanks. Ray
Whitney, Topeka, Kansas.
