Hi,
The only Aldolphus WHitney listed in Pierce is Adolphus Dewing Whitney, born
in St. Armand, Province of Quebec on Oct 15, 1855. He was married at East
Franklin VT Oct 20, 1875 to Maria M. Colcord. I have found my gr-gr
grandparents, Nathan and Abigail Whitny burried in a little cemetery in
Franklin, VT. My gr-grandfather, Edward Whitney, also was born in St. Armand.
I went there and it is a dinky little town with nothing in the way of medical
facilities. It is just across the border from Franklin, VT. I can not figure
out why these Whitneys from Franklin were born in St. Armand, Canada. Maybe
the Sunday ride in a buggy got bumpy. Pierce indicates that my gr-gr-
grandfather lived in St. Armand as a farmer for a period before moving back to
the states. If that is also the case with Adolphus, that is quite a bit of
movement in the middle of nowhere for the Whitney clan. The ideal way to
solve the puzzle would be to find St. ARmand maps for the early 19th century.
Hope this is useful.
Best regards,
Jim Whitney
