I am looking for information on the family of Nathan Whitney b. 6 Mar
1723 at Stow, MA and md 22 Jan 1752 and d. at Conway, MA. He married
Tabitha Bennett.

I am descended from Ira Whitney b. 1761 of Conway, MA md 6 Jul 1798 in
Conway, MA to Rebecca Hannah Hartwell b. 19 Feb 1770 of Conway, MA and
d. 13 Nov 1815 in Onondaga Co., NY. Their son Joel is my 3rd great
grandfather.

I believe because of the 1790 census record that Nathan Whitney is the
father of my Ira. Solomon Hartwell who was the father of my Rebecca was
a neighbor to Nathan Whitney. Ira married Jane Bird in Williamsburg, MA
and became a widower shortly after that census. I believe that he
returned to his parents home and met Rebecca Hartwell whom he married.

Another reason that I feel that Nathan and Tabitha are his parents is
because he names a son Nathan and a daughter named Tabitha.

Tabitha Whitney married a Leonard Homer and resided in Port Jervis, NY.
She gave the history of her father in a book that I located in the
library at Syracuse, NY. I have a copy of the pages that she gave. I
have tried to located further information on her and the Orange Co., NY
Historical Society will only look up information for a fee and I haven't
been able to afford that yet.

1. Joel Whitney b. 9 apr 1799 of Conway, MA d. 31 Aug 1867/8 Warren
Co., PA, md 30 Aug 1830 Sarah Mead daughter of Joseph Mead and Hannah
Boone. (This is my direct line.)

2. Nathan Whitney b. 24 Jul 1803 of Conway, MA d. 1862 Warren Co., PA
md 25 Dec 1829 Susan Davis.

3. Tabitha Whitney b. 17 Apr 1807 Onondaga Co., NY d 3 Mar 1886 in Port
Jervis, NY md 13 Dec 1831 Leonard Homer.

4. Ira Whitney b. 6 May 1812 Onondaga, NY d. in infancy.

5. Lucy Whitney b. 9 Jan 1813 Onondaga, NY d 26 Jun 1850 in Warren Co.,
PA md 10 Sep 1836 John Wales.

I am Li Ann Harper Lee. My great grandmother Susan Flaville Whitney was
born in Warren Co., PA and died at The Dalles, OR. I have a picture of
her and of her mother Caroline D. Mandeville Whitney. McKendre Hiram
Whitney the father died in 1863 and I suspect that it was during the
Civil War, however, I can't prove it. The mother then remarried and
moved to Missour and then on to Washington where she died in 1914 at
Goldendale, Washington. Susan married there and died at The Dalles
shortly after giving birth to her 4th child. She died 10 Mar 1890.

Any help that you can give me will be greatly appreciated.
