Re your inquiry concerning Capt Benjamin Whitney not being in DAR Patriot
Index.
My wife is a DAR REgent and she found the names of Jonathan Lane, James
Richardson, John Lane, Thomas Sawyer and Daniel Spooner in the 1990 Patriot
Index. She says that if no one has gone in on a name, they aren't in the
Patriot Index, so possibly no one has ever gone in on Captain Benjamin
Whitney's name and that is the reason it isn't in the Patriot Index.
Possibly you can find Benjamin Whitney under the county and state records of
their Revolutionary War Soldiers. She found in Ohio Historical Society that
the DAR had listed Revolutionary soldiers that live in that state, also in the
Congressionsal Record, but as no one had gone in on that name it wasn't in the
Patriot Index.
Also, your national numbers are very old and anything that old sometimes have
not been researched thoroughly or are inaccurate and a few of them have been
closed.
