According to Pierce (ooops!) Cornelius's sister Eleanor m Samuel Shepard
who was the son of Isaac Shepard and A. Mary Smedley (her first marriage, a
second was to Nathaniel Jewell and a son Nathaniel of that marriage m Sarah
Whitney, dau of Joshua of Groton).

This gives a possible name of parents of Samuel Shepard.
