I received an email yesterday from A. Whitney Brown <>
which included the following WHITNEY data:
You probably already know, since you are so thorough, but in the
"Biographical Review of The Leading Citizens of Livingston and
Wyoming Counties, NY" there is a biography of Royal Whitney, Jr.
(Royal, Ezra, etc) It states that his wife was Mary Elsie Boylan,
a daughter of Samuel and Betsy Boylan, among the earliest pioneers
of the county, who owned over a thousand acres. It then gives her
siblings, Harris, John, Firman, Isaac, Christopher, Samuel and Fanny.
I have the will of this Mary E. (Boylan) Whitney if you are
interested. In addition, I found a land record that Ezra and
Emily A. Whitney of Burns, Allegany, sold 26 acres in Conesus to
Thomas Holmes in 1874. These must be your Whitneys.
If you ever run into any information about an Ezra Whitney
b. abt 1790-1800 who married Julia Pelton in Livingston County in
1822, or any other contemporary Whitneys you can't place, please
forward. I believe they also lived in Allegany County for a while,
and I often run into your Whitney Family in my researches.
