John G HUYLER, according to his military records, was born 4 October 1763 in
Hackensack, Bergen Co., NJ the possible son of George Huyler. John married
on 6 Nov. 1791 Hannah WHITNEY in the Schraalenburgh Dutch Reformed Church in
Hackensack. (this marriage recorded in church records) The birth of one son,
George Huyler, on 3 Nov 1792 is recorded in the church records. There may
possibly have been another son, Hezekiah, date and place of birth unk....this
Hezekiah married a Julia Williams and named a son George Whitney Huyler.
>From the will of Hezekiah WHITNEY which was signed 22 Nov 1797 and presented
for probate 7 April 1801 in Orleans Co., VT Hezekiah WHITNEY mentioned his
daughter Hannah, wife of John G. HUYLER. Other children named in Hezekiah
Whitney's will were: Thankful, William, Josiah, Hezekiah , Jesse, Ira, Sarah,
wife of John Parsell; Margaret wife of Henry Eaton.
>From this we learn that Hannah Whitney Huyler, wife of John G. Huyler,
probably died between the probate of her father's will in 1801 and 1802 when
her mother, Sarah Taylor Whitney signed her will.
John HUYLER served in the NJ Militia during the Amer. Rev. under the name of
John....after the war he incorporated the initial "G" since he had an uncle
John Huyler and several cousins by the same name.
