Subject: [WHITNEY-L] Nathan-4 Whitney of York and Biddeford, ME: also Ford/Whitney info
Date: Mon, 24 May 1999 13:42:47 EDT

Dear WRG:

In the Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire there is a
reference to a Nathan Whitney in the family article about the Presbury
(Preston, Presson) family. It states that William Presbury of Beverly (along
with his brother, Stephen) was deeded property from his mother and his Aunt
Sarah West in 1827, and a few lines later it says "In 1730 he sold the Saco
property to Nathan Whitney of York."

Since Saco and Biddeford are so close, and since Nathan-4's children were
born in Biddeford (according to Whitny13), I am wondering if someone has a
confirmation of any kind that the Nathan-4 Whitney and the Nathan Whitney of
York who bought this property could be one and the same. This is obviously
NOT crucial to any line of descent, but indicative of a reason for movement
from one place to another.

While searching the same source, I did find confirmation that the Sarah Ford
who married Nathaniel-3 (Benjamin-2, John-1) Whitney, and the Lettice (Letty)
Ford who married John-3 (ditto) Whitney were, in fact, sisters, both
daughters of John Ford and Joanna Andrews (Searle) of Kittery, York, ME.

Happy Hunting!
