At the LDS web site there is a listing for a Joseph Whitney and Hannah
Hussey who
had a dau. abt 1840 at London,Merrimack Co., New Hampshire. Her name was
Amanda.
My gg grandfather, Joseph Whitney, b. 1777 at Dudley, Ma. moved to
Herkimer,NY
about 1800 then to Vernon, Oneida Co. Ny.
In the 1850 census of Vernon, a Hannah is listed second to his name and
then the children.
One of the children is Amanda, the last born. My g grandfather, Perry is
one of
the other children.
Another listing, for the town of Winchendon MA. (in Ma. VRs) is for a
son born to Joseph and Hannah Oct, 10,1800. The son is Joseph Jr.
At Herkimer in 1810 census there is Joseph Jr with Joseph Whitney and
his father,
Phinehas. And he is also there in Vernon in 1850 with a Hannah.
Pierce (pp 136-140) tells about the move from Dudley, Ma. to Herkimer,
NY. and
then to Vernon,Oneida Co., NY. and shows Joseph as a son of Phinehas
Whitney.
(Joshua, Nathaniel,Nathaniel,John, John)
Winchendon is only about 50mi. north of Dudley and London, (New London)
New Hampshire is only about 50mi N.E. of Winchendon.
I guess my question is ...is this coincidence or is this one family.???
Oh, Yes I'm an engineer to, but a TV broadcast type.
Thank you for any comments.
