Subject: [WHITNEY-L] Thomas Whitney, clerck

On December 16, 1996 Edward Sinker posted a message to the group listing
several wills proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury 1383-1558.
One of them was as follows:
1588 Whitney, Thomas, clerck, died at Westminster;
Delewcres, Stafford - 36 Noodes
Has anyone attempted to obtain this will from the PCC? Does anyone know
how to do this? Has anyone identified Delewcres? What does "36 Noodes"
mean? Are the dates correct - the date of the will falls outside of the
date range in the title.
We seemed to have stalled in the search for John's ancestry past his
father Thomas (1560?-1637). The death of another Thomas Whitney in the
same location and 5 years after our Thomas married Mary Bray is perhaps
one of the best unsearched leads we have. Perhaps this will is just the
'missing' document that we have been searching for. Unless someone speaks
up to inform me that this will has been located and was not fruitful, I
suggest we add this document to the top of our list of desires. Does
anyone know how to obtain it?

P.S. The planned equipment move did not take place last night and
probably won't tonight either. I'm entertaining guests from England and
that has me somewhat preoccupied. :-)
