Betty and the WRG,

There are two problems with this lineage:

1. Joseph and Rebecca (BURGE) WHITNEY had a son Ephraim, but he m. 1744, Esther
WOODS, not Rhoda -----. The one who married Rhoda ----- was son of Zachariah-4
and Ruth (TAYLOR) WHITNEY [Ebenezer-3, Richard-2, John-1], b. 1740 in Pomfret,
CT.

2. Ephraim and Rhoda (-----) WHITNEY had a son Ebenezer, but he m.(1) 28 Dec
1786, Rachel Parne RAWSON (d. 15 Dec 1819), and m.(2) 21 Feb 1821, Mrs. Lovina
POTTER. He lived in Montague, MA. Thus he did not marry first Elizabeth EATON
and second Sally PRATT. The parentage and birth of the one who did, and lived
in VT and PA, I have not been able to find.

This means that your Ebenezer WHITNEY is, at least temporarily, in the
"unattached" or "miscellaneous" category. There are several untraced Ebenezer
WHITNEY births which could apply to him in the John-1 WHITNEY family, but
apparently none in the Henry-1 WHITNEY family. Probably yours belongs to
John-1, but just how is the issue!

Sorry!

Regards,

Robert
