Hello WRG members,

I am at a loss as where to go from here....I have only the following
information on my Whitney line and can't find anyone who can either confirm
or deny my assumptions. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has any
info on this line of Whitneys.

My Whitneys owned a sloop named the Katring that sailed from Bermuda. They
owned land in Isle of Wight Co., Va. and North Carolina. Would love to
communicate with anyone researching Joshua Whitney who married Martha
(unknown). This Joshua was a mariner who owned the ship Ketring and came to
Isle of Wight from Bermuda. He bought land in Isle of Wight Co., Va. in
1721. He sold this land in 1734. He also bought 150 acres in Isle of Wight
in 1725 from Christopher Reynolds. In his will he left this land to be sold
for the benefit of his children. His will was recorded in both Isle of Wight
and North Carolina. He names the following in his will: wife Martha; son
David; son Jeremiah; son Samuel; daughter Ketring; son Joseph; daughter Ruth;
son Francis. His sons David and Jeremiah were executors.

Anyone recognize these folks?

Pat Corbitt Johns, in Va.
