BLANCHE MODES 5/7/1893-7/12/1978

Blanche Moes, daughter of the pioneer Whitney family of Mud Bay, died at an
Olympia rest home Wednesday morning. Mrs. Modes was born at Independence,
Okla.; Mary 7, 1893 and was married here to A.E. Modes in 1916. The family
later lived in Seattle and Bainbridge Island and returned to Olympia in 1942.
the family home was at 2901 Cooper Point Road. Mr. Modes died here in 1971.
Surviving are two sons, Vernon W. Modes, Seattle, and Robert W. Modes,
Burbank, Calif.; three brothers Alfred and Carl Whitney both Olympia, and
Harold Whitney, Westport, Wash.; a sister, Mrs. Alice Johnson, Tacoma; one
grandchild and one great grandchild. A funeral service will be held in the
Mills and Mills chapel on Friday, starting at 3 P.M. The Rev. Paul J. Beeman,
minister at the First United methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will
take place in the Forest Memorial Gardens.
