Dear WRG,
One of my ancestors was a merchant from Ware, Hampshire Co., MA. He was an officer during the Civil War, and went into business in North Carolina after the war. He died in NC a few years later. I am sure that, being a family man, a businessman, and an army officer, he undoubtedly had a will. I know that he had an attorney in Boston, MA. I know not where he is buried. My question: can anyone advise me where the best place is to start looking for probate records? If his will was with his attorney, where would it have been probated? I have little experience in searching probate records, and could use some help.
