Hello all.
Is anyone familiar with the Edward Whitney who is
listed in the 1860 Federal Census residing in Clay,
LaGrange, IN? This, I believe, is the same Edward
Whitney whose widow, Adaline, filed for a Civil War
Pension in 1864. There is also a listing in the Civil
War Rosters stating he (or an Edward Whitney) enlisted
with the 100th Indiana Infantry 15 Aug 1862 and died at
Missionary Ridge, TN on 25 November 1863, claiming
residence at the time of enlistment at LaGrange, IN.
I've also found, looking at the other names in the
census index, an Anna Brockway, same page, and one id#
(ancestry.com id#) from Edward Whitney. My Edward's
grandmother was Jerusha Brockway, too much of a
co-incidence to be ignored.
As always, any help will be greatly appreciated.
