While on vacation the past 2 weeks, I dropped in on the Dedham Historical Society. It is located in Dedham, MA, a suburb of Boston. I thought that since I spent the first 23 years of my life there and didn't know of the terrific history and genealogy library contained therein, some of you might also be interested in learning about it. I was totally unprepared to do any research this vacation, but still found three volumes there that I was unable to find at the D.A.R. Genealogy Library in Washington, D.C. The curator told me that it is not unusual for people to rent motel rooms in Dedham and spend a week using this wonderful library. If you are researching New England families and are in the Dedham area, I recommend a visit. The fee for non-members to use the library is five dollars.
