Here are my notes from the plaque at Hall's Harbor, Nova Scotia:
Samuel Hall, from King's Co., a pilot and guide to American privateer in 1779.
In 1830 Sylvanus WHITNEY opened the first store. It is said in 1847 that he
discovered Samuel Hall's buried treasure "in or bout the banks of the upper
creek."
It is generally considered in tourism literature that no Hall treasure has
been found, if indeed it existed.
