Dear WRG -

I have been looking for my ggrandmother, Arvilla Melissa WHITNEY for
some time now.

There's one particular lead I've been meaning to follow up on. Arvilla
is, of course, a rather unusual name and so I searched the LDS databases
and there is, in fact, an Arvila Whitney (spelling with one L instead of
2), b. 1823 in Chelsea, Orange Co., VT. Interestingly, her parents are
Isaac Whitney and Polly Blood. My ggrandmother married a George Blood,
also of Vermont. The combination of an Arvilla and another Blood in
this family makes me seriously interested in this family. My Arvilla is
said to have been born in Brooklyn, NY, but I've been unable to find any
records on her there.

The ARvila found in the LDS database had a brother, Charles (b. 1822),
who married an Arvilla too. She had 2 other brothers, Alvah (b.
1832)and Andrew (b. 1818), both of whom also married. (These are in the
John Whitney of WAtertown database.) No children are listed for any of
the three boys. Does anyone have any information regarding their
children? My Arvilla's birth is in 1862 and could conceivably be a
child of one of the boys or a granddaughter in that family.

Again, the name Arvilla, the name Blood and the location of Vermont
certainly raises my hopes of finding my long lost Arvilla.

Any leads gratefully accepted.

Thank you

LYn Whitney Anderson
