WRG:
At the D.A.R. Genealogy Library in Washington, DC is a microfilm entitled "Brunswick, Cumberland Co., Maine Vital Records", Film, Sp. Col., Maine #1. It is a microfilm of a manual transcription of the early Brunswick vital records. Below is a transcription of the Whitney entries in these records. The page numers which appear are the page numbers of the transcription, not the page numbers from the original records. I did this so that anyone wanting to view these records could do so more easily. I have made a couple of editorial notes at the end, because some variance is noted with previous information. I apologise for the way it looks, but Wordperfect doesn't seem to copy well into an e-mail (at least with my skills!). Enjoy!

NOTES:

1. The family of Stover Whitney and Susan Trufant also appear in the Vital Records of Bowdoin, ME, with some date discrepancy. It now appears to me that for each entry for this family which says "in B.", the B. probably means Brunswick, not Bowdoin in the Bowdoin records.

2. The Dunham who is in the Brunswick records is undoubtedly the Denham Whitney in the Bowdoin records, son of Stover and Susan. Why he is in the Bowdoin records and not as a child in the Brunswick record, I don't understand. "Jennie" in the Brunswick record is undoubtedly "Olive J." in the Bowdoin record.

3. The death record of Benjamin, son of John and Lettis Whitney, in the Lisbon, ME Vital Records contains his birth date as 2 June 1727. That is at variance with the Brunswick birth record, which says 22 May 1725.
