Dear Lois: A MANTLE WHITNEY appears in the Unconnected "Miscellaneous"
Whitney database that I maintain. He is being researched by Mary (don't
know her last name) whose address I have as . Mary
told me this about him:
"They all moved to Michigan except for Norman who moved to Texas.
Irving, Lewis and Robert lived in Wayne County in MI. Bert lived in
northern Mi I believe in Oscoda County. I do not know where in Texas
Norman moved to. Mantle also had two other children with another wife I
do not know her name. I remember as a child that my aunt and uncle use
to go visit down in Youngstown OH. That tends to make me believe that
maybe their were some Whitney's living there."
According to what Mary provided, Mantle Whitney was b. circa 1863 in New
York. He married Mary FULLER in about 1885 in Pennsylvania and they had
the following children:
Bert Whitney, b. circa 1886
Irving Whitney, b. 1888
Lewis Whitney, b. 1892
Norm Whitney, b. 1896
Robert Whitney, b. 1901
Mary and Mantle appeared in the 1900 New York Census.
I wish I could be more helpful. You might search the WRG web site
http://www.whitneygen.org to look at any other information on Mantle
and/or Mentle Whitney. Good luck!
Jeanne

I do believe this is a very disconnected Whitney as we can not find
anything on him anywhere. My 90 yr old sis found an old address on
things
she was going thru. He was in Castle Rock Wa. Do you have any
unconnected
Whitneys in Wash. He was Born Ny 1864. He was in Wash. 1916? to the
1930"s.
Also my sister recall rhat my dad said ther was a Whitney-Paine
connection
but we have not found that either. Lois
