Ann,
The Pedigree Resource Files are copies of GEDCOM's that individuals have
contributed. The difference between these and Ancestral File is they
include a copy of an individual's genealogy database including notes. These
are not merged files. When an individual submits an updated GEDCOM, the old
one is preserved and the new one is inserted into the database. This could
be a great way of backing up your database in case of extreme disasters such
as crashing a hard drive.
