Today I recieved an obituary hand written by my grand aunt. The hand written obit did not have a date on it and I was wondering if anyone would have some information on this Whitney. The obit apparently came from Manhasset, NY (ap) and the caption reads "John "Jock" Whitney dies at 77. This obituary was quite lengthy and told of his many endevors (quite grand I must say) It said his father was Payne Whitney and his paternal grandfather was William Courtney Whitney. The obit also stated he was survived by his second wife, Betsey Cushing Whitney. I am thinking he is the father to Bernice Whitney that I had inquired about previously and hope that someone might have this information. I looked in the LDS site and it showed one John Hay Whitney and that his wife was Gertrude Vanderbilt. There were no dates given.
