Hello all,
I am responding particularly to Jo Hogle, but really to all regarding the
reunion. First , absolutely NOTHING has been decided regarding hotels, etc.
All that has been decided thus far is the Boston area in the summer 2002.
Carolyn and I, who are currently the only members of the reunion committee,
are merely information gatherers and pass on whatever we get. When we have
some concrete information, it will be passed on to the WRG, via this site (we
are no longer using the MyFamily as it is duplicative at this point). Then,
the WRG will decide. Carolyn and I are now in the process of looking at a
variety of hotels in the area. Our primary question at this point is not only
the cost of hotel rooms, but also the availability of public transportation
and/or parking with the hotel, if there is a "package" where they'll throw in
a conference room for free if we have X amount of people registered at the
hotel. I have called many places at this point, and am awaiting follow-up
information from the places I've contacted thus far. When we have concrete
numbers and availability, it will be posted, as I said, and then the group
will decide. Neither Carolyn nor I see ourselves as the decision makers,
merely the facilitators. In that, we will probably put some type of time
limit for people to respond, once things are posted, because things will need
to be firmed up one by one if its really going to happen next summer.
The other factor in all this is that no arrangement we, as a group, finally
decide on, will meet everyone's needs. We will probably center the reunion in
a place which offers the greatest amount of people with their needs. People
are not required, however, to do whatever the group decides on. So if people
want to stay outside the city at a less expensive rate and then drive in for
the conference times or meet the group at an outing or restaurant, that's fine
as well.
This is the first time we've done this, so it's not going to be perfect, but
hopefully working together, we'll find solutions to problems as they come up
whenever possible. Sadly, some may be beyond our power to find a solution to,
but I know, speaking for Carolyn as well, we will try to offer the group the
widest variety of choices and then y'all can start letting us know how the
options look.
Thanks,
Lyn Legere
