Hi Chris, Lyn and Group,
I plan on attending the Whitney Renuion no matter what time of the year it is held next year as I've wanted to since it was first discussed.
I'm a descendant living in northern Vermont and a trip to Massachusetts is only a half a day's trip for me. My sister would also like to attend if possible....however even if she is unable to go I'll still be attending. My point is that if my sister does go transportation to Lexington is not a problem since she drives but if she is unable to attend then I might have a transportation problem getting from Boston to Lexington since I don't drive. One member of the group recently wrote in that there is public transportation from Boston to Lexington and I'm inclined to believe that's true. After all Lexington is in the greater Boston area.I know that there is public transportation from Boston to Watertown as I've used it myself so it stands to reason the same holds true for Lexington. I plan to check this out and will get back to the group with what I learn. I'm sure there are others that would need to have access to public transportation if the Reunion was held in Lexington or o!
ther suburbs of Boston.
The price quoted for the Sheraton Hotel in Lexington is an excellent one and if we aren't able to book enough rooms for all those planning on attending there then others can find accomedations in other hotels as long as they book early enough & I would be fine with that for myself. However I do have a question regarding using the Lexington Sheraton. In one of either Chris's or Lyn's recent posts it was mentioned that the ballroom at Lexington held 200 people. Would that be sufficent space for our group ? Of course it depends on how many are planning on attending but it does seem to me that given the fact that John and Elinor had so many descendants which have spread across the country that more than 200 people might be going to this Reunion. One probably could get 200 people from New England alone.
Sorry to ramble on but these thoughts and concerns came to my mind as I read through the various posts about the Reunion.
One more thing before I sign off for Chris and Lyn ....Deepest appreciation and thanks to you both for all you're doing to make this all come together !!!
