Dear WRG:
Rootsweb sent this one particular message back and not to the list because
for some reason they think it included html coding. It wasn't any different
from all the other messages I send, so I have no idea why this one caused a
problem.

Dear WRG:
Folks, I'm sorry for creating confusion. I thought I was responding to a
message that asked for the end of August as the time to "commit" to coming to
the Reunion, and was trying to suggest that the end of September might be
easier for quite a few. The idea of getting "commitments," which are clearly
not cast in concrete if someone's situation changes, is so that we can be
certain that we will have enough attending to go ahead and book the block of
rooms and the use of the meeting room. I wanted to suggest that we see if
the end of September might be a little easier on the membership to do their
planning for the following summer.
Unfortunately, a number of you thought I was suggesting a change of dates for
the meeting itself. I know that the summers get hot, even in New England,
and that the weather would probably be nicer near the end of September. Even
though I am retired and could essentially come almost anytime, I know that
there are others who are not and don't have the same freedom in their
schedules.
Again, I'm sorry for the confusion. I won't try to put words in Lyn and
Carolyn's mouths about the reasons for the time frame selected, it can
probably be found in the archives of the maillist, or they may want to
comment. I really don't think it would be a good idea to bypass all the good
information that they have collected and sorted in coming up with the plans
as they now are situated.
I do plan to attend, and will have a car that can be used to transport others
to and fro if needed. If they need me to make reservations in the hotel
before the end of August, I'll do that, too.
I'm really looking forward with great anticipation to the opportunity to put
faces on the many familiar names that I have learned and "talked to" via this
list over the past several years. It's been wonderful for me to meet and get
to know Robert Ward and John Whitney and share occasional social evenings
with them -- aided greatly by excellent food and beverages. I've also had
visits with MAL and Arvy out in CA and UT. How much more wonderful it will
be to finally meet Jan and Peg and Jeanne and Jo and Jon and Caradwen and
Paul and Ray and Michael Ray and Ron and Tim and ---- well, you get the
idea.
Happy Hunting to all.
