Dear Stuart: Since you are leaving for Germany so soon, I have forwarded a copy of this message to three people who I hope will respond to your questions more accurately: Robert Ward, Allan Green, Tim Doyle. I have also forwarded a copy to the WRG email list, in case someone else is currently working on the ancestry of John Whitney of Watertown.
>>1. Where and when are forthcoming Whitney reunions?<<
Planning for the very first Whitney Reunion is underway. While date and place have not been set, it will probably take place in the Fall of 2002 in Lexington, Mass.
>>2. How solid is the data and research on this connection to the "Royal Line"?<<
I don't know, since all my efforts have concentrated on my connection to an immigrant. Possibly one of the above members can help you with this question.
>>3. Are you the Whitney Family Historian<<
No. WRG started, and has remained, a group of internet correspondents who banded together to compare and share anything and everything about the genealogy of the Whitney surname. A formal election of officers has never been held; no one has been given the title "historian", although several could certainly be considered such.
>>and is all of the Whitney genealogical data base on the web?<<
The collective efforts of 300+ genealogists appears on the web site, http://www.whitneygen.org , but there is much left to gather. "Official" databases are ever growing as contributions are sent in. The databases are updated about once a year. Resources on the Whitney Research Group web site are vast and additions are sent in frequently by the membership.

Dear Ms. Muse,
E-mail is fine with me. I would appreciate any information you can send
me on the following questions:
1. Where and when are forthcoming Whitney reunions?
2. My great grandmother going back seven generations was Sarah Whitney
born June 12, 1759 and died at Amboy, NY 1838. She married Justus
Hough. This information was from F.C. Pierce's Whitney Family Genealogy,
1906. From this book and from Pedigree Resource File on the web, it
shows the Whitney family tree going all the way back to Charlemagne. I
was talking to our professional genealogist, Gerald Parsons, from
Syracuse, NY who was somewhat skeptical. My question is: How solid is
the data and research on this connection to the "Royal Line"? We are
planning on being in Germany next month and I was thinking of going up to
Aachen to view remaining artifacts.
3. Are you the Whitney Family Historian and is all of the Whitney
genealogical data base on the web?
Thank you for your interest and help.
Sincerely,
Stuart O. Parsons Ph.D.
