Says that Thankful Whitney was the dau. of Capt. Nathan Whitney and Patience Bernard/Burnham. She was born 16 Dec 1780 at Columbia, Maine. Married (1) at Machias on 8 Oct 1805 Moses Leavitt died by 1808. Married (2) at Machias on 15 July 1808 Isaac Meader of Durham, NH. Only child listed in this book is the child that she had by Jeremiah O'Brien. Here name is Lydia born 10 Jun 1804 and died in 1898 on Long Island, New York. There is more info. I think Burnham is the proper last name for Patience. No one has been able to uncover her roots as yet that I know of. It has been said the Patience father was killed by the Indians, that is all that I have found. Here are the generations of Capt. Nathan...
Capt. Nathan Whitney was the son of
Nathan Whitney and Lydia Young
Nathaniel Whitney and Sarah Ford
Benjamin Whitney and Jane
John Whitney and Elinor (from England)
Hope this helps
Roger
