The credit for locating information about Roswell Whitney and descendants
goes to the accumulative research from cousin John R. Whitney in
California.

This particular Roswell Whitney had two brothers, David and Jacob. Our
line seems not to descend from Roswell but may well descend from one of
the brothers. Family hearsay have left some clues which seem to coincide
with some of the established military service records. Has the Roswell
line been established any farther back?

Our Jacob was born between 1790 and 1800, I think. Lived and died in
1861 in Delaware County, N.Y --married Nellie Freeman, daughter of
Jonathan Freeman from Ulster Co. & Delaware Co. I and other family
members have yet to find the ancestors of our Jacob.
