According to the LDS IGI at <http://www.familysearch.org/>;, there was a Betsy
DARBY born 6 Oct 1765, Concord, MA, daughter of Joseph and Silence (HUBBARD)
DARBY. She is the right age and in the right place to be the wife of David
WHITNEY, whom she married 1 Jun 1786, Concord, MA. Joseph was born in 1718 in
Beverly, MA, son of John and Deborah (CONANT) DARBY. John was born in 1681 in
Marblehead, MA, son of John and Alice (-----) DARBY. I don't think this is
your line.

More likely is Mary DERBYSHIRE, born 3 Jan 1705/6, Groton, MA, daughter of
John and Mary (BLANCHARD) DERBYSHIRE. This surname is sometimes written as
DERBY or DARBY.
