I'm still trying to find the right JOHN WHITNEY. He was
a Planter (farmer) from Connecticut who emigrated to
Nova Scotia to occupy the lands left vacant by the
expulsion of the Acadians when they refused to sign
allegiance to Britain. He was in Horton, Nova Scotia
in 1760 and married to Desire Avery d/o Nathaniel
Avery and Rachel Yeomans. He had at least one son
named John. Desire was born in 1736 in Lyme, Conn..

I wonder if this was the John #14 in Phoenix who sold
all his properties and disappeared without any further
trace.
