Dawn- thanks for the reminder about the emails and photo.
Yes- George's Mother was Jean Grace Whitney and a resident of Cohoes, New York. George Edward is buried beside the rest of his family in Waterford Rural Cemetery in Saratoga County, New York. He died on 13 May 1931.
He came by his love of the water from his youth spent working as a lock tender on the Erie
Canal with his father George H.(I did not know the H. was Henry!) who was Supervisor of Locks.
George H. was a Civil War vet.
If you go to the website "Family Search.com" a free software called PAF 5.0 will enable you to view a GEDCOM file with all the Whitney family listed. If you get this on your PC then I can send you my GEDCOM file. This file documents our family back to the 1600s to John Whitney from London, England.

Hi James
Did you get my two emails that I sent, one on the 21st and the other the
25th? The second one had an attachment which was a photo of George H.
I hope so as I'm really looking forward to finding out more about George
H's ancestry and your side of the line also.
I'll send them again if you didn't get them, let me know.
Cheers....Dawn ©¿©¬
