On 12 Jan 2002, I received this from Tom Wann <>
Hi Jeannie, Sonja Juelson put me on to your Whitney Web site. My greatgrand father was a brother to Lucy Marie Southworth and we have some Whitney family information in our files including some old pictures which I have digitized. I have also taken pictures of the Cemetery in Newark/Millington, IL where there are several Whitney stones. Would you have any interest in these. I have attached what I have on Lucy Marie's desendents. Tom Wann
I told Tom to visit the WRG web site and upload the photos there. Below is the text version of his report. We already have alot of this information in Witney15, but there are a few additional dates and places. Jeanne

Notes for ALICE MARIE WHITNEY:

We didn't have any pictures of him or his family. I will appreciate a copy, my mailing address is: Mary Ware, 402 Grant 66, Sheridan, AR 72150.
I don't think I have told you the story. This was as it was handed down: Pliney was postmaster at Reno, OK. He contacted small pox, his mother Alice, was taking care of him. They both died. Minnie Sims Boynton had gone to her parents, to do some sewing for the expected baby. She got the news of Pliney and his mother's death and was told not to return because the house and their bodies were burned.
This is what I have proved: Alice Marie, Pliney's mother, was postmaster at Heaslet, OK. She was appointed August 22, 1898. I have a copy of her appointment. Myrtle McKay was appointed Jan 28, 1901. We could not find any death or cemetery records. Based on M. McKay's appointment in Jan 190l, we believe the deaths occurred about that time. I have the Canadian County OK June 1900 Census, listing Alice Boynton, head; and sons Pliney A., Charles A., Ashley M. Based on the Whitney info, I know they were in Washington at the time of Harvey Allen Boynton's death. I have a copy of Ashley Mills Boynton's death certificate for the state of Washington. He died March 31, 1983. I know this family was in Illinois, Ohio, Missouri, Washington and Oklahoma.
Thanks a million!
