James Davis Whitney, b. in Wilton, Conn., 22 June 1814; a farmer; married Ap. 1834, in Licking Co., Ohio, HANNAH PUGH, born 6 Nov. 1818, dau. of Abram and Sarah (Asbury) Pugh, of Virginia. They lived in Kirkersville, Ohio, for seven years, and then settled in Bloomfield, Ohio, where they were living in 1873.

William Whitney, b. in Wilton, Conn., 19 June 1818; a blacksmith; moved with his parents to Sharon, now Shelby, Ohio, reaching there on the day he was one year old; went to Fairfield Co., Ohio, in the Winter of 1837, removing to Piketon, Ohio, in the next Spring, to Ross Co., Ohio, in the following Winter, and to Kingston, in Tippecanoe township, in Aug. 1838; married, 25 Dec. 1838, in Chillicothe, hio, by William Craton, Esq., to MARY RESSELL, born in Harrisburgh, Penn., 4 Sept. 1822, dau. of Philip and Catharine (Crotzer) Ressell. They dwelt, first, in Kingston, Ohio; removed, in 1844, to Middletown, Ind.; thence to Putnam Co., and again to Tippecanoe Co., Ind.; and settled, 4 Oct. 1853, in Marion, Iowa, nine miles from Mount Pleasant, the county-seat. There his wife died, 2 March 1859, and was buried in the Hickney Cemetery. He was married (2d), 12 Nov 1861, in Wayne, Iowa, by Rev. Joseph B. Vernon, Methodist Episcopal, to ANN ELIZA MILLER, born in St. Clairsville, Ohio, !
13 Sep. 1824, dau. of Milton and Cineh (Plummer) Miller. They were living near Mount Pleasant, in 1873, and he was engaged in the cultivation of his fine farm.

By 2nd wife, Anna Eliza Miller:
Cineh Lauretta - b. 22 Dc 1862, Marion, Iowa
Milton Miller - 24 Oct 1865, Marion, Iowa

Phoenix had some grandchildren given in Vol. 3: Children of William Henry Whitney and Alice Jane Whitney only.

Dear WRG,

Does anyone have the descendents of William Whitney, b 1818 in CT.? He was the son of Henry Whitney and Lucy Grumman. Is his brother James Davis the same James D. Whitney that is on the 1850 and 1860 census for Logan Co., Ohio?
