I saw your post in the Whitney Research Group concerning Jonathan Whitney and his wife Lydia as well as Lydia's family, the Lewis Jones's.

Jonathan and Lydia Whitney were my 8th great grandparents which in turn makes Lydia's parents my 9th great grandparents.My line is as follows: John,Jonathan,Joseph, Joseph (II),Benjamin,Abel,Joseph, James,Zina,Edith, and then my Mom). In fact I can tie my direct lineage to not just Jonathan but also to 2 more of John's and Elinor's sons,John Jr. and Joshua. You see Jonathan's grandson Joseph (my direct ancestor) married Abigail Nutting. Abigail's mother was Ruth Shattuck who's father was William Shattuck,son of John and Ruth (Whitney0 Shattuck. Ruth Whitney was the daughter of John Whitney Jr. (brother to Jonathan and son of John and Elinor). Going further on down my Jonathan line one comes to Abel Whitney who came to Vermont from Massachusetts with his brothers in 1791. Abel married Phoebe Scott. Her great grandmother was Alice Whitney who was the daughter of Joshua Whitney. Joshua was born to John and Elinor a month after their arrival in Watertown. So I am therefore all!
3 brothers are my however many greats grandfathers.

I'm very interested in whatever you have about these individuals and families...especially the Jones family as I've not found the abundance of information for that family as what I have for the Whitneys.I've gotten alot of data from such sources as the Pierce book,the Henry Bond M.D. Book of Early Watertown settlers, the Savage books and the book published in 1977 in Vermont by Fred Farnham Whitney on the Vermont branch of the Whitney clan to name a few. However you may have information that I don't have.

I would be happy to share whatever data I have on these families with you too. As well as written data I have pictures I took while in Watertown,MA and also photos I took of the Whitneys in Tunbridge,VT. I've had several people recently express interest in these photos so I'm thinking of trying to figure out how to go about adding them in the Whitney Research Group. But since you are one of the first to seem interested I can send them to you via e mail if you'd like.

P.S.I noticed you live in New Mexico. My uncle,also a descendent of John,Elinor,Jonathan,Lydia,etc,. lives in Alomagordo,New Mexico. He was in the Air Force at White Sands and now is a civilian worker for the Air Force there.
