Your list includes a Pvt. George Whitney, Michigan volunteers
(sharpshooter); I'm not certain it's the same Whitney (17 of Zerah Whitney's
sons and grandsons were in that war, possibly all from Michigan), but a
Whitney soldier from Michigan was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.
A book published by the Veterans of Foreign Wars lists all Medal of Honor
recipients from the awards inception (Civil War) through the publication
date (early 1990s), and a copy of the book was presented to the Illinois
library (Cicero Public) while I was the PR person there.
