Can anyone tell me what a "holder of an Indian deed" would mean? Does this
mean someone who was a Native American and held a deed to land granted to
him by the town (and later taken away)? Or does it mean someone who is
granted a deed to property by the Native Americans?
One of my ancestors was involved in resolving a lawsuit brought against a
town by the "holders" and I can not find an explanation anywhere.
