Hi WRG
I have been spendinga great deal of time recently looking at census records
looking for a needle in a haystack. While doing so I thought about the
Whitney list and the fact that we have that great website where we could
record census information found.
HOWEVER... I am thinking of this from the other side. I have reviewed
hundreds of pages of census and not come across a single Whitney. I was
thinking it might be helpful if there was some way we could note the
negatives as well.
I am not searching Whitneys at the moment, but if someone wanted to search
for their brickwall, it would be helpful to be able to look and see that in
"this place" in the XXXX census record, there were no Whitney's found - and
help them eliminate some work already done by someone else.
Does that make sense and most of all - is it practical?
I envision a list of states and then cities/towns with EDs noted as there
not being any Whitneys.
Now I do not have a clue how to do this - the thought of a developing a
webpage scares me but thought it was worth a suggestion.
