Whitney Research Group:
I received this today from one of our lost Whitney kinfolk. Anybody have any
record of this line?

related. I was just out in California visiting my uncle and he had a
"Whitney genealogy book, and either my great grandfather Oscar Whitney or his
father, I believe, Franklin Whitney had started searching the Whitney line.
I saw that John Whitney had come over here from England and settled in
Watertown, Mass. There is also a General Joshua Whitney who is also in the
line who "founded" Binghamton, NY. I believe John is one of my great
great....grandfathers. There is also a house that Gen. Joshua Whitney had
and it was named "Cranberry House". I saw some pictures. My guess is that
it was in NY.
