Unfortunately I don't have any information for you on any of the people you mentioned in your post. However I found your message interesting and intriguing.

My Whitney line (which started with John & Elinor arriving in Watertown,MA 1635) came to Tunbridge,Vermont in 1791. Three brothers,Abel (my ancestor), David and Aaron came first to settle permanently with 2 more brothers coming later but not staying. They were the sons of Leutinent (spelling?) Benjamin Whitney of Pepperell,MA. Benjamin had bought and in Tunbridge prior to the Revolutionary War and that's where his sons came to settle. Abel,my 4th great grandfater, married my 4th great grandmother,Phoebe Scott, in Pepperell,MA on March 21, 1793. Phoebe appears to be the daughter of William and Phoebe (Woods) Scott.

i have so far traced my roots back to 30 lines in Massachusetts and 10 lines to the 1700's in Vermont. I'm a native Vermonter living in northwestern Vermont (Burlington). Where are you from/reside ?

There more than likely is a connection somewhere here between your Whitneys/ Scotts and my Whitneys/Scotts.In the 6 years I've been tracing my family tree I've come to see time and time again that these early families often intermarried over and over again down through the generations and fellow genealogists I've spoken to have experienced the same thing. If you and I can't make the connections between our 2 common surnames perhaps one of us will stumble on it in the future. I'll save your post and address and if I find any information for you, either connected to my Whitneys and Scotts or unconnected,I'll pass it on to you and hope you'll do the same for me.

Good luck in your search!!
