Just to add to the list of Whitneys who have made names for themselves in
the field of science:

Dr. Roy P. Whitney, paper chemist and 1998 inductee into the Paper Hall of
Fame. For a bio, see the website

(NB - the website incorrectly lists his middle initial as "C")

Roy is descended from Andrew Whitney of Milo, ME (b. 1823). Andrew is the
ancestor I have been trying to connect to Richard(6) Whitney, son of
Moses(5) Whitney. Since two of Andrew's children who died in childhood are
buried alongside Richard at Sebec Corner Cemetery, Sebec, ME, the connection
is quite likely. For more on this family and my evidence for Richard being
