My great-grandfather Charles Edward Young was crippled for life at
Chickamauga when his horse reared and toppled backwards onto him. His first
cousin, Ahaz Young, was killed at Chickamauga. Both had a grandfather in
the Revolution, Morgan Young Jr., who had enlisted as a teen-ager. Their
great-grandfather, Morgan Young Sr., served as a wagon-master in the
Revolution.
Both enlisted at Wilton, Illinois. Charles was buried, years after the war,
in Nemaha Co., Kansas. I do not know where Ahaz was buried.
