Marion,
In your posting dated Nov.23, Is this Alexander Whitney married to Hazel Whitney? Hazel Whitney is sister to my Richard Smith. This Richard Smith was related to my great grandmother, Elizabeth Smith who was married to Mathew Cooley.
Do you have any information on Alexander Whitney?
Also Joseph Cooley was married to Esther(Whitney)they had Ruth Cooley. Esther was I think neice to Ruth Whitney from Westboro MA. Ruth Cooley was my dad's first cousin.
Also my grandfather Arthur T. Cooley had at one time a very good job for the railroad..
When World War I came my grandfather went in. Then when World War II came my dad was old enough to go in. My grandfather re-enlisted and went in again. They both came home.
My Grandfather then went into Roxbury MA. to the Veterans Hospital and became an RN.
At this time period a barracks type Hospital was built in Framingham MA. It was called CUSHING Hospital.
All of the barrack type houses were connected with tunnels. This would be for the boys coming home from World War II,
These boys, or men came home without limbs and this was a wheelchair hospital rehab. My grandfather worked there quite a few years. Then he went from VA. hospital to VA hospital and he took care of the Veterans until he died in the Providance Rhode Island VA. Hospital in October of 1966.
.
Thank you,
Maureen
