Allan
We don't have Blackflies in Minnesota, at least not down in the Metro. We
only have mosquitoes capable of carrying off small children and pets.

There is much history in Minnesota, Historic Ft Snelling is an intriguing
place, although for folks from the east it is all fairly recent history.
An Invitation....
As I think about it... I live in a large luxury apartment building that is
walking distance from the Radisson Plymouth (about 2 city blocks) and within
a mile of several lesser expensive hotels and motels. We have 3 nice size
(and comfortably appointed) party rooms that could easily be used for
comfortable gatherings, discussion groups and such - We have large family
gatherings there often (using all rooms we easily accommodate 75 or more
people at one time). With the use of the patio and the connecting areas we
could accomodate 100 - 150 with no problem I would think. With stoves and
refrigerators in the rooms, we could even have catered lunches if we so
chose.
This could be a much less formal setting, with restaurants nearby for meals
and such, and the Radisson close for a banquet if we wanted (there are other
places as well). Granted, it is a distance to the Mall of America(12-15
miles), the Minnesota History Center (25 miles) and such, but it is an
option nonetheless. A bus to take a tour of the area, to the mall, or to
the history center, might be rented reasonably as well. I might even be
able to get a deal through my brother-in-law - and get him to do the
driving. But I won't hold my breath.
I plan small informal family gatherings, I don't know anything about
planning a large formal reunion, but the space is here (AND FREE to me as a
tenant) so funds could be spent on other things.
And Allan, you and Ginny would have that opportunity to take advantage of
the standing invitation to stay at my place. I would love to return your
hospitality.
Just a wild off the top of my head thought!
Jo Hogle
