GARDNER- Janice F. (MACLEAN) WHITNEY, 90, of 131 Pearl St., a former
secretary, died Monday at Wauchusett Manor Nursing Home. Her husband, C.
Amasa WHITNEY, died in 1967. She leaves 2 daughters, Barbara A. GRIFFIN
of Lunenburg and Elizabeth GRAY of South Hamilton; a brother, Albert L.
MACLEAN of Westerfield; a sister, Ann ACKROYD of Windham, Maine. A son,
Army PFC Charles E. WHITNEY, was killed in action on Nov. 26, 1944. She
was born in Moncton, New Brunswick to Charles L. and Emma A. (COATES)
MACLEAN, and lived here most of her life. She was a member of the First
Congregational Church. Burial at Crystal Lake Cemetary. Smith Funeral
Home.

SHREWSBURY- Walter E. WHITNEY, 85, of 224 Holden St., died Mon., Feb.
18, in UMass Mem. Med. Ctr. He leaves his wife of 63 years, Lillian V.
(HULTGREN) WHITNEY; a son, William M. WHITNEY of Plano, Texas. A son,
John B. WHITNEY, died in 1984. He was born in Shrewsbury to Milton H.
and Beatrice (MYERS) WHITNEY. He served in the Army and was a retired

PUTNAM- Lyle C. WHITNEY,80, of Church St., died Tuesday, July 10, in
UMass Mem. Med. Ctr. He leaves a son, Gary WHITNEY of Thompson; a
sister, Janet OLSEN of the Turners Falls section of Montague. A son,
Clifton WHIYNEY, died in 1999. Born in Ware to Clifford A. and Hazel
(SANGER) WHITNEY. Army veteran of WWII. He worked more than 30 years at
Webster Spring Co., Oxford. Mt. Zion Cemetary, Webster. Smith and Walker

ROCKLEDGE, FLA.- George W. WHITNEY, 79, of 1075 Hermosa Dr., formerly of
New Salem, died Monday, Dec. 3, in Wuesthoff Hospital. He was an Army
veteran of WWII. He leaves his wife of 25 years, Eloise R. (IRISIT)
WHITNEY; 3 sons (one of which is not reported), Joseph WHITNEY of
Winchendon, Mass. and Jeffrey WHITNEY of Athol, Mass.; 3 step-sons; a
step-daughter; a brother; a sister. His first wife, Margaret (TRUMAN)
WHITNEY died in 1973. He was born in North Adams, Mass. and moved
toFlorida in 1978. He oerated Whitney Associates, a construction company
in New Salem. Burial in East Street Cemetary in Petersham. Witty's
Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., Orange.

ATHOL- Edith A.(CHASE) WHITNEY, 94, of 950 Pleasant St., a retired
teacher, died Wednesday, October 2, in Quabbin Valley Health Care. Her
husband, Wayne W. WHITNEY died in 1987. She leaves nieces and nephews.
She was born and raised in Royalston, daughter of Charles F. and Adelle
L. (CHAPIN) CHASE. She was a teacher for more than 30 years. Lawrence
