If the reunion is held in Washington, I recommend the Hotel Harrington at 11th and E Sts NW. Centrally located for all tourist sites, easy walk to the National Archives., etc. They have a group rate for minimum ten rooms of $85 plus tax. Parking is $10 a day. This is cheap for downtown DC . Meeting rooms available. Used for a lot of groups and school trips. See their web site www.Hotel-Harrington.com

I visit the DAR library regularly and would be glad to show researchers where to find things. Outside of Salt Lake City, this library is the best. Open stacks, self-service photocopying,. In addition to books, there is a microfilm center with the Federal censuses, Rev. War pension records and many other documents. A large collection of unpublished records in the Genealogical Records Committee books sent in by DAR chapters in the states. The library catalog is on-line http://dar.library.net Open Mon-Fri 8:30-4.00 .Sat 9-5. Closed Sunday. Fee for non-DAR/SAR members is now $6 per day.

I find the Library of Congress much harder to use, since there is usually a long wait after you request a book, and then often the slip comes back "not on shelf"

Don't come to Washington for research mid July . You will run into the annual DAR Continental Congress and the library is closed to non-members.
