According to the Crockett Genealogy, 1610-1988; Some Descendants of Thomas and Ann Crockett of Kittery, Maine (with 1990 Addendum) by Charles Samuel Candage

"Samuel Whitney (twin) born 4 May 1774, died 9 Sept. 1864, Farmington, married 23 Oct 1800, Dorcas Westcott, who was born ca 1779 and died 30 May 1863. Lived in Cumberland (per History of Gorham.)"

Unfortunately, Mr. Candage did not follow this line any further. He apparently used on McLellan's History of Gorham for some of his documentation. I do know that he really thoroughly researched all aspects of this huge book. We corresponded some in the 1980s. He has since deceased.

There are a number of Maine Whitneys in this book, and if anyone thinks they may have a Crockett in their genealogy, I would be happy to check on it.

Marion Whitney Martin.
