I'm not voting for DC, but if everyone else does, then I'm definitely
voting for this place. On research trips I'd always long for a place
that combined the coziness of the out-of-the-way Kalorama Guest House
with the central location of the international hostel-- at two-digit
rates. It looks like Carolyn has found such a paradise. (Do they offer
free wine like the Kalorama?) It certainly was built in a day when
architects still had taste and sense.
Does it have adequate air conditioning, were we to meet in the malarial
season? I know nothing about it other than it's ten storeys tall--
because everything in Washington is ten storeys tall!
One of the pleasant surprises of WRG2002 was a handsome site that tipped
its hat to the past. We should try to make that a tradition.
Cheers,
