My gggrandfather Alonzo Wells Newcomb Whitney b:27 Dec. 1818 D: 4 Feb
1845 wrote a little story of his life about a year before his death, in
which he said his father was Silas Whitney born about 1792 in
Canandaigua, Ontario, New York. No record has been found of that birth.
His mother Mary Wheeler b: 23 July 1803 in New York, and died 2 Apr 1856.
Buried Ellison, Warren, Illinois. Grand father Alonzo states that he was
cared for by his grandmother Mary (Kelly) Wheeler from his birth. My
question is, does any one out there know of a Silas Whitney that would
fit into what my gggrandfather said was his father? Thank you so much
