Subject: [WHITNEY-L] My John Whitney and DNA
Date: Sun, 7 Sep 2003 03:48:31 -0700 (PDT)

It has been awhile since I gave my line. My brother had the DNA test done and matched 9 people, two others with one mutation. It looks like we are descended from John Whitney and Eleanor, we just have to find the generations between John Whitney and Eleanor and my John Whitney.
This is what I know about my John Whitney:
According to the census records he was born in MA in 1784. In 1850 he was in Waukesha, WI in 1850 where his wife Polly Gibbs died. In 1860 he was living in Coles Co., IL with his granddaughter and her husband, James and Laura McInroy. In 1870 he was living in Coles Co., IL with his son Truman Whitney and wife Florilla. John Whitney died in 1871 in Coles Co., IL. He and his wife Polly had four children in Broom Co., NY:
Melinda 1814, Truman 1818, Elijah 1820 and Chauncey abt 1827.

I am descended through his son Truman Whitney who married Florilla Holmes.
George Addison Whitney born in Waukesha Co., WI married Emma Hill in Coles Co., IL in 1874. George Whitney died in Wichita, Sedgwick Co., KS in 1920. They had a son Lemuel Lech Whitney who married Ella Rebecca Sadler in Belle Plain, Sumner Co., KS in 1902.
Lemuel is my great grandfather.
Any help would be very greatly appreciated.
