There has been quite a lot of traffic recently in these forums. I should like to point out that as well as the information on the Free Download page of my web site -
http://mysite.freeserve.com/whitmore_ancestry/ (listed at the bottom of every Whitmore/Wetmore rootsweb email) there is quite a number of documents in the "List Of Available Documents" which is not available for download on the web site but which I can send by email to those who are really interested in particular ones. The "List Of Available Documents" itself can be downloaded from the Free Downloads page.
If anyone has any books, articles or documents which are not currently in the "List Of Available Documents" I would be grateful if they would let me know. Please do not keep this information to yourself but share it with other researchers.
I have a short article which contains the phrase:
"This is the conclusion arrived at by Dr. D. J. Whittemore, Chief Engineer of the Chicago Milwaukee, and St. Paul R.R. in 1903 after a series of researches extending through ten years, and at an outlay of nearly two thousand dollars. His researches led him to consultation of charters, deeds, leases, wills, etc., as well as parish records, county histories, Heraldic visitations, the Harleian M.S.S., the Pipe Rolls, etc., and was so thorough and exhaustive that he was perfectly satisfied with its correctness. His research ran side by side with your family till the De Boterells became extinct and then branched off after his own direct line."
Does anyone have any knowledge about Dr. D. J. Whitmore? What happened to his research notes? Were they ever published in any way?
Regards Derek Whitmore.
